Description

67 - LXVII "Two points of view The exhibition opening of two special artists in the Stöffel Park will take place on Sunday, June 28, 2020, 4 p.m., in Café Kohleschuppen. Doris Kohlhas and Dino Schaefer are exhibiting. Interested visitors are welcome!

Why the title? And what is it about? Their answer is: "A good vintage. And then there are two artists from this year as well. Views in the same direction. Viewed and depicted. Individually and together. Looking for and finding details. Black and white photography and haptic painting form a symbiosis."

Dino Schaefer: A circle that closes
His large-format works, which can be understood as abstract and digital painting, often consist of photographs, which he combines with oil and acrylic paints and covers with a liquid layer of resin.

Dino Schaefer was born in the Rhineland in 1967. Originally coming from the fashion industry, he retired from the industry for private reasons and spent time in New York, working as an account manager in advertising. In the cradle of the American service industry, the passionate autodidact learned how to deal with a wide variety of characters and critics and how to fulfill all wishes in a diplomatic way.

But life had other plans for him. Back in Germany, he worked as a media designer (print design) and later found his main focus of activity in marketing and communication. After several stations in Germany and the USA he moved back to Bonn in 2012. In 2016 he successfully completed a further education as a media business administrator.

He took a breath of fresh air, spent time with his son in Berlin and refocused on what was essential for him: working with brush and spatula. After many years, different life situations, countless important encounters and lots of challenges, the time has come.

The fascination for art and photography, however, has accompanied him since his youth and over the years has brought him closer and closer to the topic of "Corporate Art". Consequently, after many years full of pressure and deadlines, he looked for a new direction and found it at Shepherds Garden - Corporate Art & Design in Bonn.

The circle closes ...

Doris Kohlhas: Space for inspiration
Discovering with all senses and always giving and giving enough space and freedom for inspiration and interpretation, that is the credo of the (Wahl-)Hachenburg artist Doris Kohlhas.

To appeal to all senses in such a way that the viewer is always allowed to experience and even recognize his own history, to feel his own version of the artwork and to form his own picture.

"As a perfect complement to my independence as a journalist, which requires conscientious research and linguistic precision, I devote myself in my art to things that are not visible at first glance, that seem to remain hidden under a veil, a layer of dust of everyday life.

Doris Kohlhas' photography is profound and interwoven, sometimes confusing at first glance, and shows an often subtle, finely internalized view to those who look twice, to those who can feel more than think.

With a Canon digital SLR camera as well as a Ricoh GR II and now and then analog, she lays the foundations for her black and white photography. Her pictures undergo only minimal processing, she only slightly optimizes what she finds.

"The art - in the truest sense of the word - lies in feeling and capturing the moment between letting go and holding on. With a receptive, benevolent and seeing eye as a basis, as a starting point. It is this decisive moment when everything seems to stand still."
