When the days get shorter and the anticipation for the Christmas holidays increases, we like to remember the beautiful experiences of our childhood. It is not uncommon to think of some fluffy and soft "childhood companions" who may still be "mumbling" in a corner, almost forgotten. Everyone knows them, everyone loves them - even if Steiff animals for some only remained dream dreams. Because they had their high price. .
More than 130 historical figures and animals from the Steiff Museum Giengen are shown in a world of experience in the new museum building. The museum also presents its oldest toy from Westerwald families.
The success story of soft toys began 140 years ago. Margarete Steiff sews her first fabric elephant made of felt in 1879. In 1884 she already sold 5000 of these cute little animals. Actually they should be used as pincushions. But children liked to play with them. Since then, the animal figures, dolls, wooden toys and even model airplanes from Steiff - Knopf im Ohr make children's eyes glow.
The exhibition and all other facilities of the Landscape Museum are open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm. From 23.12. 2018 to 1. 1. 2020 inclusive the museum is closed.
